The leisurely ladies with the obviously painted eyebrows, sitting
with their packages and drinking flavored ice tea, eating salads.

I wonder if they think about the people who picked the lettuce, and the
tomatoes
in those hot, long rows and fields.

Their painted eyebrows are sepia brown, almost matching the color
of their bleached thinning hair.

Later, their cigarette smoke will hide their painted eyebrows, as they
talk about their golf game, and the children who never visit them.

I wonder: what would they think about their mothers’ obviously painted
eyebrows?
